Meeting a need
Good morning, free souls. Our good deed for the day is to encourage someone to talk about themselves: be curious, listen harder, ask just one more question.
It’s not stroking egos, but fulfilling someone’s fundamental human desire to feel seen, heard, and important. It's not just warm and fuzzy feel-goodiness, but meeting a physiological need: talking about ourselves activates the same part of the brain as food and reproduction.
Think about THAT, storytelling-unbelievers: sharing our stories with others is as necessary as eating.
You need it.
I need it.
And people are starved for it.
Meeting this need comes free of charge, requiring no more investment than giving just a little bit more care, a little bit more attention, a little bit more intention, a little bit more time.
Be curious. Listen harder. Ask one more question.
Let's eat!
